Murals in the Market
Created as part of Murals in the Market, Detroit’s annual mural and public art festival, this large-scale mural brought a burst of color and playful energy to Eastern Market.
Designed in collaboration with Jeremiah Britton, Joe Geis, and Scott Pippia, the piece embraced the weird, unexpected, and colorful side of public art. The goal was to create something that felt distinct within the neighborhood while adding a sense of movement and personality to the surrounding environment.
Although each mural wall in the festival is typically repainted by a new artist each year, this piece remained intact due to public demand. Its continued presence helped it become a recognizable part of the Eastern Market landscape and led to features in campaigns for BMW and the NFL.
The project was a collaborative effort across design, production, and installation, bringing together multiple artists to create a lasting piece of public artwork that resonated beyond the festival itself.
